Approach FAQ
What is the difference between hypnotherapy and counselling?
Both can begin with conversation. Clinical hypnotherapy adds a deliberate way of working with focused attention.
Different doorways
Conversation, attention and imagination.
Counselling usually centres conversation, reflection and the therapeutic relationship. Clinical hypnotherapy also uses conversation, while deliberately including focused attention, imagery, metaphor or suggestion.
Some parts of a hypnotherapy session may feel conversational. That time helps Rachel understand what brings you, what matters and what you would like to feel more free to do. Hypnosis is introduced collaboratively, and you remain able to ask questions, pause or stop.
This website focuses on clinical hypnotherapy. Rachel’s counselling, arts therapy, couples work and clinical supervision are explained through Hiskins Arts Therapy & Counselling.
These clinical hypnotherapy services are not crisis services. Rachel will discuss referral options when another form of care may be more appropriate.
